Büyükkonuk Olive Producers Cooperative expands to 250 members
The Büyükkonuk Olive Producers Agricultural Cooperative has grown from 28 members in 2017 to 250 producers across 29 villages as of 2026. According to Project Coordinator Ersun Aytaç, the cooperative’s production capacity has increased from 3 tons to 60 tons.
Established with support from the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen, the cooperative works in collaboration with the Esnaf Zanaatkarlar ve Üreticiler Pazarlama Kooperatifi (EZKOOP) to market products. The cooperative utilizes professional food engineers to monitor production and quality standards, offering producers guaranteed purchase agreements and defined payment plans.
Following a mapping of regional products initiated in 2012, the cooperative completed facility construction between 2019 and 2020. The number of olive trees under management grew from approximately 15,000 in 2018 to over 150,000 in 2023. The organization has expanded into international markets, exporting to Australia in 2019 and the United Kingdom in 2020, and has conducted sales to Southern Cyprus via the Green Line in 2022 and 2026.
