Byron Donalds adjusts campaign branding and proposes Florida hotel-tax changes

Florida Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds has updated his campaign website to reduce the prominence of President Donald Trump. While Trump maintains his endorsement of Donalds, the redesigned site no longer features large endorsement banners or prominent photographs of the two politicians together. The campaign’s communications director stated the redesign aims to focus on Donalds’ specific priorities, such as affordability and government transparency, rather than deliberately sidelining the president.

Separately, Donalds has introduced a proposal regarding the use of hotel-tax revenue in Florida. He argues that counties should have more autonomy to direct funds generated from hotel rooms and short-term rentals toward local transportation and infrastructure projects, rather than redirecting the money to statewide programs. The proposal has drawn debate regarding how local governments should manage tourist-generated revenue and the broader taxation of corporations to fund state needs.
