Byron Donalds receives $10 million donation and unveils school nutrition plan

Republican U.S. Representative Byron Donalds, the front‑runner in Florida's 2026 gubernatorial race, secured a record $10 million individual contribution from billionaire investor Ken Griffin, bringing his campaign total to about $95 million.

Donald’s campaign also announced a "Healthy Florida Healthy Families" initiative that would eliminate ultra‑processed foods, artificial dyes and soda from public school cafeterias, require districts to post menus and ingredient lists online, and mandate lead and contaminant testing of drinking water in every Florida school. Donald said, "When a kid sits down in a cafeteria, parents want to know what’s on that tray. When they fill a cup at the fountain, we want to know what’s in that water." The plan aims to expand the Farm‑to‑School program and address PFAS, microplastics and other emerging contaminants.
