ByteDance to build TikTok's first Latin American data center in Ceará

ByteDance is launching its first Latin American TikTok data center in the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex in Ceará, Brazil. The project represents the company’s largest technological infrastructure investment outside of China.

The total estimated investment for the project exceeds R$ 200 billion, with an initial phase investment of R$ 50 billion. Construction officially began in January 2026, and operations are projected to commence in the third quarter of 2027. The project is being implemented through a partnership between ByteDance, Omnia (a data center platform from Pátria Investimentos), and Casa dos Ventos.

In its first phase, the data center is expected to create more than 4,000 jobs and will have an initial electrical capacity of 300 megawatts. The location was selected due to the Pecém Complex's infrastructure, availability of renewable energy, and strategic connection to international submarine cables. The development is expected to stimulate the regional economy and increase demand in the real estate rental market within the Fortaleza Metropolitan Region, specifically in Caucaia and São Gonçalo do Amarante.
