Bytom initiates cultural programs and industrial heritage revitalization
Bytom is undergoing cultural and structural revitalization through new musical initiatives and industrial heritage preservation. A group of local musicians has launched ‘Antico e moderno’, a year-long cycle of free vocal and instrumental concerts. The program aims to utilize the city’s diverse architectural spaces, including the Silesian Opera, various churches, and post-industrial sites, to celebrate the local community's rhythm through diverse repertoires ranging from operatic hits to seasonal oratorios.
Simultaneously, revitalization efforts have begun on the Szyb Krystyna, an iconic 57-meter headframe from the former Szombierki Mine. Owned by Multi Polymers, the project has received over 15.5 million PLN in EU subsidies. While initial plans for a new service building with a cafe were canceled due to soil stability issues, the focus has shifted to the modernization of the historic tower itself. The first stage of work was awarded to the company Dominex.
