BYU defeats Notre Dame in high-profile college football victory

The BYU Cougars secured a 17-10 victory over No. 2 Notre Dame at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The win featured standout performances from quarterback Bear Bachmeier, who was named the Associated Press National Player of the Week, and linebacker Cade Uluave, named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week.

Despite injuries to star running backs LJ Martin and Sione Moa, BYU's offense remained efficient. Backup running backs Preston Rex and Journee Tonga contributed to the win, with Rex rushing for 66 yards and Tonga recording a 12-yard reception.

The event drew significant national attention, with ESPN’s College GameDay attracting over 3 million viewers and the game itself averaging 9.2 million television viewers, peaking at 13.2 million.
