BYU running back LJ Martin expected to miss 4-6 weeks with injury
BYU star running back and reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year LJ Martin is expected to miss four to six weeks due to a lower-body injury. The injury occurred during the Cougars' recent win over TCU.
Martin’s absence will sideline him for several upcoming games, including the matchup against Iowa State and the highly anticipated prime-time game against No. 3 Notre Dame on October 17. His status for the BYU-Utah game on November 7 also remains uncertain.
To compensate for the loss of their leading rusher, who has amassed 344 yards and three touchdowns this season, BYU is expected to utilize a committee of running backs including Journee Tonga, Preston Rex, and Devaughn Eka. Quarterback Bear Bachmeier is also projected to see an increased workload in the rushing attack.
