Byzantine Music Schools in Aetolia and Acarnania begin new academic year
The Byzantine Music Schools of the Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania have commenced the new academic year. Metropolitan Damaskinos presided over the blessing services for the start of classes at two locations.
On October 13, 2026, the service was held at the Holy Trinity Church in Agrinio for the ‘David the Psalmist’ Byzantine Music School. This was followed on October 15, 2026, by a service at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint Spyridon in Missolonghi for the ‘Saint John Koukouzelis’ Byzantine Music School.
The ceremonies were attended by school directors, teaching staff, and students, including new first-year enrollees. During his address, Metropolitan Damaskinos emphasized the spiritual and theological dimensions of Byzantine music, describing it as an art form that connects the visible and invisible, and the sensory with the spiritual.
