Tamil Nadu CM Vijay marks 100 days with major welfare initiatives

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government has marked his first 100 days in office by outlining an extensive list of welfare, investment, and administrative initiatives. Key measures include the provision of 200 units of free electricity for eligible households, a ₹6,000 crore crop loan waiver, and special incentives for sugarcane and paddy farmers.

To bolster social welfare, the government has allocated ₹3,500 crore for the Vetri Housing Scheme, ₹2,000 crore for the Vetri Laptop Scheme, and funds for marriage assistance and gold schemes. Educational support includes the expansion of the Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Breakfast Scheme with a ₹710 crore allocation.

Safety and development remain central priorities, evidenced by the creation of the Singappen Special Task Force for women’s safety and 65 anti-narcotics task forces. Additionally, the government reported securing over ₹1 lakh crore in investment commitments through the Tamil Nadu Investors’ Summit 2026.
