C. Joseph Vijay sworn in as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister

C. Joseph Vijay, founder of the TVK party, has been sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu following his party's emergence as the single largest group in recent assembly elections. The new administration is supported by the Congress, VCK, IUML, and Left parties.

To establish economic priorities, the TVK government has launched its first major economic event, the Vetri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026, in Chennai. The summit aims to attract global and domestic investment in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, electronics, renewable energy, aerospace, and life sciences. The government seeks to grow the state's economy toward USD 1.5 trillion, with expectations of signing nearly 100 MoUs valued at over ₹67,452 crore, potentially creating approximately one lakh jobs across 20 districts.

Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate development projects worth ₹5,650 crore across the state to bolster infrastructure and economic growth.
