Techcombank SMS phishing scams threaten users in Vietnam's Gia Lai province

Vietnamese police in Gia Lai province have warned that fraudsters are sending spoofed SMS messages that appear to come from Techcombank. The messages urge recipients to act quickly to claim credit‑card reward points, limited‑time offers or exclusive prizes, and include deceptive URLs that mimic the bank’s domain (e.g., techcombank.cfd/com.vn, tcb.lat/com.vn).

If users click the links they are directed to counterfeit sites that replicate the bank’s branding and request sensitive personal data, including name, phone number, card number, expiration date, CVV/CVC, login password and OTP codes. The stolen information is then used to carry out unauthorized online transactions, link cards to e‑wallets, make purchases, withdraw cash or even impersonate bank staff to obtain further OTP codes. Police advise the public to never follow unfamiliar links, never share card or OTP details, and to verify any alleged rewards directly through the official banking app or by calling the bank’s hotline. Victims who have already entered data should immediately stop any further interaction, contact Techcombank to block the card, change passwords, and report the incident to the nearest police station with screenshots as evidence.
