Cà Mau police warn of online‑shopping scams exploiting discarded delivery labels

The Cà Mau Provincial Police in Vietnam alerted consumers that the rapid growth of e‑commerce has created a data‑leak risk. When buyers discard packaging that still bears the delivery note, the label contains personal details such as name, phone number, address and product information. Crime groups collect these details to impersonate delivery workers, demand bogus shipping fees or cash‑on‑delivery payments, and use the information to register loans with illicit credit apps.

Police advise shoppers to destroy any box or envelope bearing the shipment code before throwing it away, to verify orders on the official app before paying a courier, and to avoid clicking unfamiliar links or sharing OTP codes. They also recommend confirming with the purchaser when a relative receives a parcel on their behalf.
