C64 opposition coalition begins European diplomatic tour
Leaders of the C64 coalition, a group of five Congolese opposition figures including Martin Fayulu, Moïse Katumbi, Jean-Marc Kabund, Augustin Matata Ponyo, and Delly Sesanga, have launched a European diplomatic tour starting in Rome on October 26, 2026.
The tour aims to mobilize Western chancelleries in favor of an inclusive national dialogue in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The coalition seeks to pressure Kinshasa to prevent the escalation of the country's political and security crises. Planned stops include Brussels and Paris, with potential visits to Madrid and London.
This diplomatic offensive comes amid heightened political tensions in the DRC, exacerbated by President Félix Tshisekedi's indications regarding a possible third term. The coalition's efforts follow its formation in Kinshasa in May 2026, with the goal of defending the constitutional order.
