Ca Mau authorities propose preserving tomb within illegal villa complex
Local officials in Tan Thanh Ward, Ca Mau Province, have recommended preserving a tomb located within the grounds of a villa complex known as the ‘most beautiful building in Ca Mau.’ The proposal cites moral and religious considerations, suggesting that the preservation of the tomb serves as a form of restitution for the violation of approximately 1,303 square meters of land.
The villa, owned by Ho An Tap, was constructed illegally on agricultural land. Following urgent directives from the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee, the owner has already voluntarily demolished several structures, including a 61-square-meter wooden house and 339 square meters of office and security buildings.
While a portion of the land (over 2,141 square meters) was previously approved for conversion to residential use, the owner has reportedly failed to pay over 8 billion VND in land use fees. The case has been subject to administrative processing for nearly four years due to conflicting decisions and subsequent appeals. Provincial authorities have instructed the provincial inspectorate to continue monitoring the situation and report on the final resolution.
