Ca Mau leads Vietnam in primary healthcare screening program

Ca Mau province is leading Vietnam in implementing a comprehensive primary healthcare program. As of July 31, the province has conducted health screenings for over 1.4 million people, representing 65.5% of its managed population.

The initiative aims to bring medical services closer to residents, particularly the elderly and those in remote areas, by organizing screenings across 64 communes and wards. Through these screenings, medical professionals have identified numerous cases of non-communicable diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular issues, and respiratory diseases. Patients are receiving nutritional and behavioral counseling and are being integrated into regular management and treatment programs.

Additionally, the local health sector has established and updated over 547,000 electronic health records, achieving a rate of more than 25%. The province aims to reach 100% coverage by 2026.
