Cà Mau stabbing attack leaves one child dead and two injured

A violent knife attack in Năm Căn, Cà Mau, on October 5 has left a 6-year-old girl dead and two others seriously injured. The suspect, Trần Chí Công (born 1986), allegedly attacked a primary school teacher, N. T. L. H., and her two daughters while they were traveling home from school.

The victim, a 6-year-old girl, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The mother and her 11-year-old daughter were rushed to Cà Mau General Hospital in critical condition with multiple wounds and blood loss. As of October 6, hospital officials reported that both the mother and the 11-year-old have passed the critical stage and are receiving intensive care.

Witnesses and local authorities stated that the suspect, who had been in a domestic relationship with the victim for approximately four years, was apprehended by police and local citizens after a pursuit. Preliminary investigations suggest the motive was jealousy. Local officials have provided financial support to the grieving family as they arrange funeral services for the deceased child.
