Cañada Real microbus service improves healthcare access for women
A free microbus service has been launched in Cañada Real Galiana to improve healthcare access for local women. The initiative addresses barriers such as distance, transportation difficulties, and the challenges of traveling with small children.
Operating on the last Friday of every month, the eight-passenger vehicle provides round-trip transportation to the Ensanche de Vallecas Health Center and the Villa de Vallecas Community Municipal Health Center. The service is specifically designed to facilitate gynecological and midwifery appointments, as well as participation in cancer prevention programs.
By providing transport, the service supports the DEPRECAM and CERVICAM screening programs of the Community of Madrid, which focus on the early detection of breast and cervical cancer. The microbus is also equipped with baby carriers to assist mothers in attending their medical appointments.
