Caçador daycare infant death under investigation

A four-month-old baby died on Tuesday morning after suddenly falling ill while at a daycare center in Caçador. The child was taken to a local medical unit, but despite resuscitation attempts by healthcare professionals, death was confirmed.

The incident occurred at the Centro de Educação Infantil Pequeno Príncipe in the Berger neighborhood. The infant, whose family is of Haitian origin, was on her second day of adaptation at the facility.

Sônia Frigeri, director of the Associação Caçadorense de Educação Infantil (ACEIAS), stated that teachers noticed the child falling ill and immediately initiated first aid procedures. The Scientific Police have been called to the site to investigate the cause of death. The daycare center is providing all camera footage and requested information to the authorities to assist in the investigation.
