CAASD educates over 10,000 citizens on water conservation in Santo Domingo
Director Fellito Suberví of the Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) reported that its environmental and community education program reached more than 10,000 people in the first half of 2026. The initiative delivered 225 talks in 108 schools, benefiting 8,712 students (5,090 girls and 3,622 boys), and conducted sessions for 1,293 adults (823 women and 470 men) on responsible water use and conservation.
Two community events, including the “La CAASD es tuya” workshop, were held to explain water production, treatment and distribution processes. The outreach extended to public institutions such as the Ministries of Housing and Buildings, Higher Education, Science & Technology, Agriculture, the National Botanical Garden, the Directorate of Ethics and Integrity, the Directorate of Livestock, and the Salomé Ureña Teacher Training Institute. CAASD also began training sessions for private‑sector companies to promote efficient water use.
Suberví said the program will continue to expand in the second half of the year, adding new communities, schools and organizations to further strengthen a culture of water savings and environmental responsibility across the Greater Santo Domingo area.
