Cabello Feliz association to host fashion show for cancer patients

The civil association ‘Cabello Feliz’ is organizing the ‘Vivir Feliz’ dinner-dance and fashion show in Campeche on October 23. The event features 18 models, including cancer survivors and patients currently undergoing treatment, walking a runway in clothing donated by local boutiques.

A central goal of the event is to provide personalized, 100% human hair prostheses to patients. Unlike synthetic alternatives that can cause skin irritation, these prostheses are handcrafted using donated hair that meets specific criteria, such as a minimum length of 35 centimeters and no chemical treatments like keratin or botox.

Psychologist Ana Paola Mezco noted that these wigs serve as a vital tool for emotional well-being, helping patients maintain their sense of identity during chemotherapy. The high market cost of such prostheses, which can range from 60,000 to 80,000 pesos, makes the association’s donation program essential for vulnerable individuals facing the psychological impact of hair loss.
