Cabernet Sauvignon celebrated through Argentine regional expressions

The International Cabernet Sauvignon Day, celebrated on the last Thursday of August, highlights the versatility of this grape variety. Originally from Bordeaux, France, the grape has become a global viticulture classic.

In Argentina, Cabernet Sauvignon is the fourth most cultivated variety, with 12,430 hectares registered across 17 provinces according to the National Institute of Vitiviniculture (INV). The variety is showcased through two distinct regional expressions from Salta and Mendoza.

In the Calchaquí Valley of Salta, Finca La Tábana produces ‘Dios Salve al Cabernet de las Reinas’, a high-altitude wine characterized by aromas of green pepper and herbs with medium tannins. In the Uco Valley of Mendoza, Cuvelier Los Andes offers a Cabernet Sauvignon grown at 1,000 meters above sea level, featuring a spicy and balanced profile with partial aging in French oak barrels.
