Cabezuela del Valle secures 25-year usage for natural swimming areas
Cabezuela del Valle has secured 25-year usage authorizations for its primary natural swimming areas, La Pesquerona and Simón Grande, following a 600,000 euro investment. The project, executed by the Diputación de Cáceres as part of the 'La Vera-Valle del Jerte' Tourism Sustainability Plan, aims to balance recreational use with environmental conservation.
The improvements include the complete renewal of existing weirs using removable stainless steel systems and foundations adapted to the river's seasonal flow. To protect local biodiversity, the design maintains the natural flow of the Jerte River and incorporates specific fish ladders to allow aquatic species to migrate even when gates are closed to create swimming zones.
