Cabildo de Tenerife approves 2.5 million euros for religious heritage restoration

The Cabildo de Tenerife has approved 2.5 million euros in subsidies for the Diocese of San Cristóbal de La Laguna to restore religious historical heritage during 2026. This funding, provided by the Cabildo, will be supplemented by contributions from the Tenerife Bishopric.

A significant portion of the funds is dedicated to the restoration of religious buildings. The combined budget for three specific temples—San Antonio de Padua in Granadilla de Abona, Santo Domingo in La Orotava, and San Juan Bautista in San Juan de la Rambla—amounts to approximately 3.9 million euros.

Additionally, 334,285.31 euros from the Cabildo will be used to restore ten pieces of movable heritage. This includes religious imagery, altarpieces, and artworks located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Garachico, and Taganana.
