Cabildo de Tenerife delegates heritage work authority to municipalities
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through its Historical Heritage Department, is delegating authority to local municipalities to authorize minor works within historical complexes and environments protected as Assets of Cultural Interest (BIC). This initiative applies to areas that do not currently have an active Special Protection Plan in force.
The goal of the measure is to simplify administrative procedures, reduce processing times, and prevent citizens from needing to seek authorization from two different administrations for minor interventions. Permitted works include interior renovations, repairing cracks, waterproofing roofs, installing solar panels (if not visible from the street), and painting facades in specific colors such as white, gray, or beige.
Separately, the Official College of Architects of Tenerife, La Gomera, and El Hierro has expressed opposition to the contracting methods used for the renovation of the former Cine Chimisay in Puerto de La Cruz and the drafting of the new Urban General Plan (PGO) for Los Llanos de Aridane. The College argues that the joint contracting of projects and works lacks sufficient technical justification and may compromise the technical autonomy of architects.
