Cabildo de Tenerife exits Bodegas Insulares in strategic shift

The Cabildo de Tenerife has officially exited Bodegas Insulares SA, marking a strategic shift in its business involvement. The divestment follows a decision made in June 2025 to withdraw from its 45.66% shareholding, a process finalized through a capital reduction and the cancellation of the institution's shares.

Despite this exit, the Cabildo maintains a significant presence in several strategic sectors through a network of approximately 40 public entities, including societies, consortia, and foundations. These entities allow the local government to influence vital areas such as mobility, water management, agriculture, energy, and social services.

In the mobility sector, the Cabildo oversees Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (Titsa) and the Metropolitano de Tenerife. The 2026 budget draft allocates approximately €256 million to mobility, including public transport and road infrastructure. In water management and agriculture, the institution manages the Insular Water Council and Balten, with €67 million earmarked for water security in the 2026 plan.
