Cabildo of Tenerife adopts youth pact prioritizing housing and employment
On International Youth Day (12 August), the Cabildo of Tenerife unanimously approved an institutional declaration committing to strengthen support for the island’s young people. The pact emphasizes improving access to affordable housing through measures such as the Young Rental Voucher and Young Mortgage Plan, and enhancing cooperation between public administrations to expand a public rental stock.
It also calls for targeted youth‑employment policies aimed at strategic sectors—including ecological transition, circular economy, audiovisual, technology and aerospace—to create quality jobs, especially in rural and mid‑land municipalities. The declaration seeks greater youth participation in cultural, educational and environmental activities and urges the Canary Islands government to allocate additional resources for youth health, employment and housing programmes.
