Cabinda government moves to stop fuel smuggling

The Cabinda Provincial Government in Angola is seeking to strengthen controls over the sale and distribution of fuels to prevent the diversion of gasoline and diesel to neighboring countries.

During a meeting with fuel station owners and managers, Provincial Governor Suzana Abreu addressed the ongoing scarcity of gasoline and diesel in the province. She called on sector operators to cooperate with government actions to combat the smuggling of refined petroleum products, noting that such activities exacerbate supply difficulties, increase queues, and harm the national economy.

The provincial government intends to increase inspection and monitoring of the distribution chain to ensure that available fuel reaches intended consumers and to mitigate the recurring access issues faced by the population.
