Cabo Dos Bahías begins penguin season with infrastructure upgrades

The Cabo Dos Bahías Natural Protected Area in Chubut, Argentina, has begun its penguin season with the arrival of Magellanic penguins. To prepare for increased tourism, several infrastructure improvements were implemented during the low season.

Key upgrades include the maintenance and painting of a 470-meter walkway designed to organize visitor movement and protect the natural environment. Additional works involved installing gas lines, improving water supplies, and enhancing management tools in Caleta Sara. New signage has also been installed to guide visitors and reinforce behavioral guidelines within the protected area.

Through a public-private partnership with the Rewilding Argentina Foundation, efforts have also focused on repairing and improving sanitary facilities. Damián Guerreiro, the new head of the protected area, emphasized the importance of inter-institutional cooperation with National Parks, the municipality of Camarones, and various foundations to promote environmental conservation and high-quality visitor experiences.
