A 10-year-old boy helped authorities arrest a man in Cabo Frio, Brazil, after the suspect violated a protective order against the boy's mother. The child signaled for help via WhatsApp to the Patrulha Maria da Penha, sending a question mark and crying emojis, stating he “cannot speak.”

Following the messages and audio clips containing a man's voice, Municipal Civil Guard and operational agents arrived at the residence. After the house remained silent, officers waited until the suspect appeared on a balcony. The man was arrested in flagrante for violating the Maria da Penha Law and was taken for a custody hearing.

Local authorities noted a 60% increase in protective order violations in Cabo Frio during the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, rising from 15 to 24 recorded incidents.
