Cabo Frio patient faces 20-day wait for urological procedure
In Cabo Frio, Brazil, the family of patient Sara Correa Herculano reported a significant delay in receiving necessary medical care. According to her mother, Sara had been hospitalized at Hospital São José Operário for 20 days as of early September while awaiting a urological procedure to treat a stone obstructing her urinary tract.
The family noted that the patient presented with intense pain and blood in her urine upon admission. Concerns were raised that the delay in the procedure, which required placement in the regulation system for a specialized vacancy, could potentially compromise her kidney function. The family sought assistance from the Public Defender's Office due to the situation.
