Cabo Frio reports significant business growth and infrastructure debates
Cabo Frio has experienced a surge in economic activity, recording its best September for new business openings since 2022. According to federal government data, the city saw a net gain of 310 new businesses in September alone, marking an 11% increase compared to the same month last year. Between January and September, the city achieved a net positive balance of 2,609 new establishments, a 12.2% increase over the previous year and the highest performance in five years.
This growth rate outpaces both the state of Rio de Janeiro and the national average. Specifically, the net increase in businesses between September 2024 and September 2026 reached 36.6%, exceeding the state's 26.2% and the national average of 18.6%.
In parallel, the Cabo Frio Municipal Chamber has been debating critical urban issues. Local council members addressed demands for improved public health, infrastructure repairs, and job creation. Key discussions included the need for road maintenance on the Amaral Peixoto Highway (RJ-106) and the expansion of employment opportunities through municipal programs.
