Cabo Rojo International Airport aims for February 2027 opening

Construction is progressing on the Cabo Rojo International Airport in the Oviedo section of Pedernales, Dominican Republic. The project is a central component of the government's plan to transform the southern region into a major tourism hub.

Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza reported that the airport is scheduled to become operational in February 2027. Key infrastructure currently under development includes the passenger terminal, control tower, airfield, and related road networks. The facility is expected to feature a 2,400-meter runway, a two-level terminal, a helipad, cargo facilities, and essential utilities such as a power plant and water treatment facility.

The airport's development is being coordinated with other regional tourism projects, including the construction of three hotels. The first hotel is projected to open alongside the airport in February 2027 to support the new tourism pole.
