Cabo Rojo Port named finalist for Seatrade Cruise Awards 2026
The Cabo Rojo Port, located in the Pedernales province of the Dominican Republic, has been named one of three finalists for the ‘Port of the Year’ category at the Seatrade Cruise Awards 2026. The port competed alongside the International Port of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom and the Port of Skjolden in Norway, with the latter ultimately receiving the top award.
The nomination highlights the ongoing tourism development in the southern region of the Dominican Republic and the expansion of port infrastructure designed to accommodate cruise ships. The project is being driven by ITM Group, led by CEO Mauricio Hamui, in collaboration with government authorities, strategic partners, and the Pedernales community.
According to the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom), this recognition serves as a milestone for the international cruise industry and the economic revitalization of the border region.
