Cabo San Lucas announces winner for 2026 festival logo

The winner of the contest to create the official logo and motto for the 2026 Traditional Festivals of Cabo San Lucas has been announced. Designer Luis Jaime Ojeda Cortés, competing under the pseudonym ‘Pablo Picasso’, was selected unanimously by the jury.

The winning motto is ‘Historia y tradición que nos une’ (History and tradition that unites us). The visual design features San Lucas Evangelista, the town's patron saint, and incorporates the years 1541 and 2026 to reference the historical origins of the settlement. Other emblematic elements included in the composition are the Cabo San Lucas Arch, the Church of San Lucas Evangelista, the Old Lighthouse of Cabo Falso, and the Natural History Museum.

Ojeda Cortés will receive a prize of 30,000 pesos during an official ceremony on October 16, which marks the beginning of the patron saint festivities. The selection process was overseen by a jury including the Asociación Yenekamú A. C. and professionals from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur and the Universidad del Golfo de California.
