Cabo San Lucas transport operators announce strike over fare increases
Transport operators in Cabo San Lucas have announced a strike for Monday, August 17, involving the suspension of approximately 300 urban and collective transport units. The protest is a response to the lack of government action regarding requests to increase service fares.
Manuel Inocencio Zamora Ceseña, president of the Unión de Transportistas Cabeños, stated that the sector has been requesting a fare update for two months. While studies suggest a fare of 24 pesos, operators expressed a willingness to settle on 20 pesos. The five participating groups—Tuye, El Arco, Barco Varado, Tracolsa, and Cabeza de Ballena—aim to pressure municipal authorities to convene the Transport Municipal Council.
The suspension is expected to impact roughly 60,000 daily users in the region.
