Cabo Verde engages in IMF meetings and hosts international insurance summit
Cabo Verde is increasing its international engagement through participation in major global economic and sectoral forums. A government delegation, led by State Secretary of Finance Maria José Lopes, is attending the annual International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank meetings in Bangkok, Thailand. The delegation aims to address global economic shifts, including the impact of artificial intelligence on employment, public debt challenges, and energy price fluctuations.
Simultaneously, the country hosted the Globus Network 2026 International Conference in Praia, focusing on the future of insurance in Africa. The event, organized by Garantia Seguros, brought together representatives from 49 companies and participants from 43 nationalities. Prime Minister Francisco Carvalho emphasized that hosting such large-scale international events is vital for strengthening Cabo Verde’s external projection and attracting global partners.
