Cabo Verde import prices surge 21.1% in July

Import prices in Cabo Verde rose by 21.1% in July compared to the same month in 2025, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE). This increase follows a 5.4% rise in import prices relative to the previous month.

Key drivers of the price surge included capital goods, which rose 9.5%, and fuels, which increased by 7.9%. The steepest category-specific increases were seen in chemical and related industries at 22.5%, followed by transport equipment at 10.5%.

Conversely, export prices declined by 1.9% year-on-year, with a 3.2% drop recorded in July. This divergence has led to a deterioration in the country's terms of trade, with the index falling to 95.6 points from 104.0 in June, representing a 19% year-on-year decline.
