Cabo Verde outlines national vision for inclusion and global integration
Francisco Carvalho has articulated a national vision for Cabo Verde titled ‘Um Cabo Verde para Todos’ (A Cabo Verde for All), transitioning from a local municipal concept to a broader national strategy. During his speech at the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Carvalho emphasized a vision of inclusion, participation, and the creation of opportunities for all citizens.
The strategy aims to position Cabo Verde as a nation with ‘open doors to Africa and bridges to the world.’ This includes deepening ties with the African continent and leveraging the country’s Atlantic position. A key component of this vision is the integration of the Cabo Verdean Diaspora, viewing them not merely as a source of remittances but as essential human, economic, and cultural capital.
This geopolitical positioning becomes particularly significant as Cabo Verde is set to assume the presidency of the Small Island Developing States in January 2027, increasing its presence on the international stage.
