Cabo Verde signs infrastructure deal with China and explores aviation partnership

The Government of Cabo Verde has entered into several strategic development agreements aimed at enhancing national infrastructure and connectivity.

A memorandum of understanding was signed with the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) to implement medium and long-term projects in energy, water, agriculture, and regional development. The partnership focuses on modernizing thermal power plants, constructing clean energy production units, improving electricity storage, and developing desalination technologies for water security.

In the aviation sector, Cabo Verdean officials met with the Swiss company Moov to discuss potential strategic cooperation regarding the national carrier, Cabo Verde Airlines (TACV). Moov, which is developing the Atlantic Gateway intercontinental air network, expressed interest in stabilizing TACV through a phased, long-term strategy. The government intends to continue discussions, including a planned visit to Switzerland, to evaluate the partnership while prioritizing national interests.
