Cachaça sees economic growth and cultural expansion in Brazil
Cachaça is seeing a significant rise in popularity within Brazilian cocktail culture and the foodservice sector. According to data from the Instituto Foodservice Brasil (IFB), the beverage generated approximately R$ 2.3 billion in the foodservice industry in the 12 months ending in June, marking a 22% increase compared to the previous period.
Beyond its economic impact, cachaça holds deep cultural and spiritual significance in Brazil. It is closely linked to samba traditions and serves as an essential element in various Afro-Brazilian religious rituals. In urban centers like Rio de Janeiro, cachaça is increasingly used in modern mixology, competing with spirits like gin and vodka in both classic recipes and contemporary creations.
To celebrate National Cachaça Day on September 13, various events are being held, including the ‘Rua da Cachaça’ at Jurema Bar, which features tastings, workshops, and the launch of exclusive limited-edition batches.
