Cachoeiro Stone Fair highlights new port project in Brazil
The 2026 Cachoeiro Stone Fair has commenced in Espírito Santo, Brazil, featuring over 200 brands and a record-breaking display of 81 stone blocks valued at more than US$1.5 million. The event serves as a strategic platform for the natural stone industry, focusing on business generation and market expansion.
A major highlight of the fair is the announcement of a new deep-water port project led by Etore Cavalieri of Grupo Imetame. The facility, featuring a depth of 16 meters, is designed to accommodate large vessels, potentially transforming regional logistics.
Operations for general cargo are expected to begin between January and March 2027, with a container terminal following in 2028. This infrastructure aims to reduce export times to the United States from approximately 60 days to 15 days, while potentially lowering logistical costs by 15% to 20%.
