Caddy web server deployment and configuration use cases

Technical implementations of the Caddy web server are being utilized for various hosting and deployment workflows. In one configuration, Caddy serves as a reverse proxy for static websites hosted on Minio S3 buckets. This setup uses the proxy to perform URL rewriting—automatically appending index.html to directory requests—and provides caching capabilities to act as a mini-CDN, reducing backend load.

In other DevOps environments, Caddy is being integrated with Kubernetes and Git for automated website deployment. Developers are utilizing custom forks, such as caddy-puregit, to enable native Go-based Git operations. This allows for cloning and pulling repositories using GitHub access tokens within Distroless containers, facilitating cleaner deployments that do not rely on shell dependencies or the standard git command.
