Cade approves sale of Oi telephone services to Método

The General Superintendence of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) has approved, without restrictions, the sale of Oi’s telephone services operations to Método Telecomunicações. The decision will become final 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Union.

In July, prior to the declaration of bankruptcy, Oi entered into a contract to sell the telephone services unit to Método for R$ 60.1 million. This unit includes remaining activities from the former fixed telephony concession, such as voice call lines, three-digit emergency numbers (190, 192, 193), public phones, and towers.

While Anatel previously authorized the transfer of control, it imposed conditions including the presentation of financial guarantees and a commitment to maintain essential telephony services. Representatives of Oi’s bankrupt estate stated they will proceed with the necessary steps to fulfill the remaining conditions of the purchase and sale agreement.
