Cadel Evans discusses potential for Tour de France in Australia

Former Tour de France champion Cadel Evans has expressed interest in the possibility of Australia hosting a stage of the Tour de France, though he noted that the “tyranny of distance” presents significant logistical hurdles. While Grand Tours such as the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, and Vuelta a España occasionally begin with international stages, bringing a race to the other side of the world would be a major undertaking.

Separately, efforts to bring cycling superstar Tadej Pogacar back to Australia are progressing. Tour Down Under race director Stuart O'Grady has spent several years attempting to lure the Slovenian rider to Adelaide. Recent discussions between Pogacar's manager and race organizers suggest a potential return to the region, which could include participation in the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race in Geelong.
