Caden Pinnick named Washington State starting quarterback

Washington State University has announced sophomore transfer Caden Pinnick as the starting quarterback for the upcoming football season. The decision follows a commitment from first-year head coach Kirby Moore to name a starter by the conclusion of fall camp.

Pinnick joins the Cougars from UC Davis, where he was the 2025 Big Sky Freshman of the Year and a Jerry Rice Award finalist. During his time at UC Davis, he recorded 3,206 passing yards and 32 touchdowns. He secured the starting position over returning players Julian Dugger and Owen Eshelman.

Pinnick is expected to make his debut in a uniform for Washington State on September 6 in Seattle against the University of Washington during the Apple Cup.
