Cadence and Nvidia launch AI models for semiconductor design

Cadence and Nvidia have announced a partnership to launch a new family of artificial intelligence models, named Maestro, designed to accelerate the development of semiconductors and integrated circuits. The technology allows chip manufacturers to run advanced AI tools directly on their own servers, reducing reliance on external cloud computing services and providing greater control over sensitive, strategic design data.

The Maestro platform integrates reinforcement learning with electronic design automation tools. It utilizes specialized models and intelligent agents to assist engineers with complex tasks, such as interpreting technical specifications, analyzing performance, and managing energy consumption and manufacturing costs for chips containing billions of transistors.

In a related expansion, Cadence has established a sovereign AI data center in Munich, Germany. This facility combines Cadence OnCloud with Nvidia Vera and Grace CPU systems, alongside the Millennium M2000 AI Supercomputer powered by the Nvidia Blackwell platform. The Munich center is designed to keep semiconductor and AI factory design data under European jurisdiction, addressing regional data sovereignty requirements.
