Cadillac F1 shifts focus to 2027 development amid performance challenges

Cadillac F1 team principal Marcin Budkowski has urged driver Sergio Perez to manage expectations regarding the team's current performance. While the team has struggled at the back of the grid since joining the Formula 1 field this year, Budkowski explained that development resources are being heavily redirected toward the 2027 car.

Budkowski noted that reliability issues, particularly with the braking systems, have diverted attention from performance gains. While he believes there is still room to extract performance from the current car before the season ends, the primary strategic focus has shifted to the long-term development cycle.

Separately, Sergio Perez praised the team's new Silverstone facility, describing it as the most impressive factory he has encountered in his career. During a tour with teammate Valtteri Bottas, Perez highlighted the advanced equipment and highly organized, interconnected departments. The Silverstone base serves as a key component of Cadillac's multi-hub infrastructure, which also includes facilities in Indiana and North Carolina.
