Cadillac F1 appoints Marcin Budkowski as new Team Principal
Cadillac Formula 1 Team has announced a leadership change, appointing Marcin Budkowski as the new Team Principal, effective immediately. Budkowski, a 49-year-old engineer with over two decades of experience at teams including Ferrari, McLaren, and Alpine, as well as the FIA, replaces Graeme Lowdon.
Lowdon, who helped build the General Motors-backed project from its inception, steps down halfway through the team's inaugural 2026 season. The team has struggled in its debut year, remaining the only entry on the grid without a championship point after 11 rounds. Drivers Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas have faced challenges with reliability and car development.
Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss described the move as a “planned leadership transition” intended to move the organization from its initial construction phase into a stage focused on racing performance. Budkowski stated his priority will be aligning personnel and information flows to improve car performance at every race. He is expected to make his debut at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort.
