Cadillac appoints Marcin Budkowski as new F1 Team Principal

Cadillac has appointed Marcin Budkowski as its new Formula 1 Team Principal, replacing Graeme Lowdon midway through the team’s inaugural 2026 season. Budkowski, a Polish-French engineer with over two decades of experience at teams including Ferrari, McLaren, and Alpine, will take charge starting at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort.

Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss confirmed that the leadership change was his decision and was not a mutual agreement with Lowdon. While the team has struggled in its first 11 races—failing to score points and sitting last in the Constructors' Championship—Towriss stated the transition is part of a planned evolution from the initial build phase to a phase focused on competitive performance.

Lowdon, who played a central role in establishing the team over the last four years, was informed of his departure on the morning of the announcement. The move aims to bring in technical and strategic expertise to help the team maximize car development within cost regulations and move toward the front of the grid.
