Cadillac unveils XT5 PHEV hybrid SUV for Chinese market

Cadillac has unveiled the XT5 PHEV, a plug-in hybrid luxury SUV specifically designed for the Chinese market. The vehicle features a dual-motor powertrain paired with a 5C-capable lithium battery and utilizes the brand’s locally developed electrical architecture in China.

Technical data from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology indicates the model includes a 148-hp combustion engine and two electric motors, with the front motor producing 215 hp and the rear motor producing 148 hp. This configuration suggests the vehicle may function as a range-extended electric vehicle.

A key feature of the XT5 PHEV is the integration of Momenta’s R7 World Model, an AI-powered semi-autonomous driving system. This technology is intended to help the vehicle navigate and respond to complex real-world driving scenarios. The exterior has been updated with a redesigned grille and aerodynamic wheels to distinguish it from standard models.
